Verse of the Week

Ephesians 4:5-6 (TPT)

"For the Lord God is one, and so are we, for we share in one faith, one baptism, and one Father. And he is the perfect Father who leads us all, works through us all, and lives in us all!"

This is a powerful verse. God is the ultimate example of perfect unity - different aspects of God working together as one (God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit).

Because of this, we get the privilege of representing this unity on earth as believers. Why? Because we share so many valuable things - we all have the same faith in Jesus, we've all been baptised into Christ, and we all share the same Father, which makes us family. He leads all of us, works in all of us, and His very presence lives in all of us! That means that you and I have value.

If I'm completely honest (and I'm speaking to myself here too), I don't think we as the church have always lived this out well. But when we do, the results are powerful. We get a glimpse of heaven on earth, and others get to see God at work in each of us as the things that traditionally divide us as people are stripped away. And as this world becomes more and more polarised and divided, this opportunity becomes more and more powerful and significant.

So, as we go about our week, lets allow both the encouragement and the challenge in this Scripture to guide us!
